Every number comes from a sourced data file. No figure is typed into a page by hand. Each one is shown with its source and date.
Translations are machine-made and labelled. Search queries in other languages are shown exactly as people typed them. Where it helps, we add an automatic English translation of the query's words, marked 'auto-translated' (Google Cloud Translation). We never add explanations about the people or events behind a search. Everything else on the site, including every answer sentence, comes from fixed, human-written templates filled in with data.
A person reviews unusual changes. When a figure changes sharply from one month to the next, the update is held for human review before it goes live.
Dates are honest. A page's "updated" date changes only when its data changes.
We are independent. There are no ads, sponsors or paid placements. Nobody can pay to be included in a list or to change a ranking.
